Job Description:
Be part of the solution. Our current healthcare system often
fails, despite herculean efforts on the part of clinicians, too
often fails to provide coordinated, seamless care. We know there is
a better way. Our collaborative care model integrates care across
multiple disciplines and locations, ensuring the patient is the
focus. We care for medically complex patients both in the hospital
and part of their primary care team.
The Everett Clinic is looking for a growth minded physician
internal medicine physician with experience in acute care and
geriatrics to function in a mixed role as part time hospitalist and
part time primary care provider. Time will be split between the two
roles, with supportive collaborative teams in both settings: the
common denominator is caring for complex elders in unique and
innovative ways. Applicants should have comfort with medically
complex patients, interest and advancing patient and family
comprehension, and ability to focus on big picture goals. The most
desirable candidate would have a strong background in adjust
medicine, experience with high acuity care, complex patients, and
comfort with prognostication. Palliative care experience is a plus.
The two roles are outlined in further detail below:
Personalized care team: PCT is a cutting-edge outpatient and
home-based team that provides integrated, supportive care to a
complex aging population, with a goal of reduced suffering,
increased patient and family understanding, and optimized care. The
interdisciplinary team is comprised of physicians, resident
physicians, palliative care clinicians, pharmacists, social
workers, RN care managers, and care navigators. The team provides
whole person care to complex patients across multiple settings ,
particularly near the end of life. You would work in concert with
other physicians and collectively share management of the patient
panel. You will not be responsible for outpatient care during your
hospitalist shifts.
Traditional Hospitalist role: Candidates will function in a
traditional hospitalist role in a community teaching hospital
within a tight-knit team of 60+ MDs and 9 APCs dedicated to
continuous improvement. The Medical Hospitalist Team is well
supported with strong relationships with the ICU, ER, specialists
and hospice. Our team has deep ties to Washington State University
and is a training site for the new WSU internal medicine residency
program: teaching is part of the hospitalist role. The primary
hospital setting is a 500-bed safety-net hospital in Everett,
Washington, (about 30 miles north of Seattle).
Schedule: The schedule would be coordinated between outpatient and
inpatient shifts (doing one or the other on any given block of
time). You would not be responsible for outpatient care during
inpatient shifts and vice versa. There is significant schedule
flexibility with the capacity to accommodate partial FTEs.
Our providers enjoy a balanced lifestyle that allows them to
explore the natural beauty here, travel abroad, and spend time with
family while practicing excellent and innovative clinical care with
a supportive environment and fascinating patients. With The Everett
Clinic you will experience:
